Pre-War MGs 1924-1939
The Pre-War Register was formed to keep a record of as many as possible MG cars built prior to 1940, operated under the Sydney MG Car Club umbrella.
A record of all models is kept, covering all of Australia and is a reasonably accurate record listing model, chassis numbers and engine numbers and State or Territory of Australia. It also lists the condition at present of each vehicle.
If previous owners are wishing to perhaps locate a pre-war MG they once owned, provided a chassis number can be quoted, it is possible to locate the whereabouts of that car. The Pre-War Register is also available to assist in locating parts where possible or suppliers, fabricators or alternative parts to either keep the cars on the road or assist on originality points for restoration for concourse, or just a nice road car.
Robert took over the registrar role in 2021 from his long-term friend and fellow enthusiast Ron Taylor.
Robert is the current custodian of the following Pre War models:
- 1939 WA saloon #0578, which he acquired in 2010 & has been progressively fettling. WA saloons are now a rare item and research by MG historians estimate that only 23 of the 265 produced exist worldwide.
- 1932 F2 (one of only 40 produced) jointly owned with Stuart Ratcliff and which they are in the process of restoring.
