July’s run to Ku-Ring-Gai Chase National Park and the Pittwater was an opportunity to enjoy magic drivers’ roads, perfect Sydney winter weather and good company for a great day out in the MG. Club photographer Ingo Weinberger kindly photographed the event, and you can find his images in the gallery below.

We met at St. Ives Showground on Mona Vale Road, beginning our drive by heading to The Resolute picnic area, where we took a break for morning tea and the opportunity for a walk to West Head Lookout. Continuing on to North Narrabeen Park, we got together for lunch, enjoying a social catch-up before making our way home.

July 2018 Club Run to Ku-ring-Gai Chase National Park and Pittwater

At least 23 MGs and some other cars assembled at St Ives Showground on a fine and rather chilly winter morning. We got under way at 9:30, heading to Terry Hills along McCarrs Creek road to the Resolute Picnic Area at West Head.

I walked the Red Hand Track to the lookout with some of our more adventurous members, while others chose to drive. By now we were enjoying brilliant sunshine with just a very light breeze. Perfect conditions for taking photos and enjoying the scenery.

I walked back along the Red Hand Track with George Berger to the picnic area, finding that everyone had moved on in the meantime! From there we continued on McCarrs Creek Road to pick up Pittwater Road at Mona Vale. We overshot the turnoff to the Narrabeen Lake picnic area, doubling back to meet up with the group.

By this point we were still blessed with bright sunshine, but we had to put up with a strong and cold breeze by the sea. At the lunch stop we enjoyed food, drink and a good chat, departing at around 2:30PM.
