2020 MG Car Club Sydney Concours and Display Day Cancelled

We are sad to announce that the 2020 MG Car Club Sydney Concours and Display Day, previously planned for the 18th of October at Silverwater Park, has been cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and associated governmental regulations and restrictions.

We had hoped that the situation would improve enough by the date that restrictions could be relaxed, allowing us to hold a safe, enjoyable and compliant event. However, this has not been the case.

The plan was to hold our special concours and display day at Silverwater Park on the banks of the Parramatta River. However, Parramatta Council has confirmed that our event (as proposed in our February application) does not meet the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions set by NSW government. In particular, the requirement to limit an outside gathering to 20 people.

Since the September monthly meeting, we have also formerly approached Strathfield Golf Club to hold a similar event in their internal carpark with the use of their bistro. Unfortunately, this ‘Plan B’ proposal has was recently declined by the club. We are therefore left with no option but to cancel the event.

On behalf of the MG Car Club Sydney board, I’d like to say a special thank you to everyone who offered to assist with arrangements of this event.

We look forward to returning in 2021 stronger and better than ever, to celebrate the club and the marque which has brought us all together with an event to match.
