Photo Gallery: The 2020 Alf Luckman Memorial Fish & Chips Run
The 2020 Alf Luckman Memorial Fish & Chips Run was held on a glorious rainy Saturday, the 18th of January, and kicked off the year’s MG motoring adventures in style. Club photographer Ingo Weinberger has kindly shared some of his images from the day, and you can enjoy them below.
The Alf Luckman Memorial Fish & Chips Run is our traditional opening event each year. We get together for a run to the picnic area at Berowra Waters, where we enjoy a relaxed and social get together, catch up after the Christmas break, and look forward to all that’s to come in the new year. There’s some pretty good fish & chips on hand as well.
After months of apocalyptic weather conditions, bushfires, smoke and drought, we were finally blessed with proper rain over the weekend. So, while a rainy day may normally put a dampener on a summer picnic, the one we received on Saturday was very warmly welcomed.
Read on for a few comments on the day, with thanks to Ingo, and then enjoy his photos.
Alf Luckman Memorial Fish & Chips Run
Kicking off 2020 with Alf Luckman’s Memorial Fish & Chips Run to Berowra Waters.
With the slightly inclement weather, numbers were a little down from previous years. All the familiar faces were in attendance and we were pleased to welcome Dadd after being absent, no MG but an immaculate Alvis Drophead Coupe. We were also pleased to welcome one potential new member, Richard, whom we hope to see soon at our gatherings.
The usual brace of MGBs was in attendance, as were Matt Crawford and Peter Fogarty in their MG ‘Y’ Saloons, an RV8, John and Lesly Lindsay with their MG ZS and Steve Foldhazy and family in the ZT (Apologies if I got the letters wrong.)
It was quite obvious that fish & chips were the preferred fare, with a few indulging in some ice cream.
John Clarke gave details of Ron Taylor’s Pre-War run coming up on the 9th of February. We’ll be ‘Going to the movies’ at the Avoca Beach Picture Theatre. Worth a visit if you’ve never been there. Unlikely to be a horror movie!
We broke up as the light started to fail and headed home full, relaxed and happy.

Hi
I am asking a favour just because I am curious.
Does anyone know if an MGB red with the rego MG 890 is registered as being owned by one of your members?
It used to be our family fun car and I am just curious if it is still making someone’s weekend special.
Thanks
Heather
