Do you now own a post-2010 MG? If so, please consider joining us in the MG Car Club Sydney.

Be it an MG3, MG6, MG ZS, MG GS or MG eZS, you have bought into one of the most recognised brands in the world, and the fastest growing brand globally. This makes you an MG enthusiast, with a passion for something unique outside of mainstream vehicles.

These are modern interpretations of MG. Sure they are not the two-seater open sports cars of the marque’s past, but these modern hatchbacks and sports utility vehicles (SUV) have all the styling and dynamic properties that made MG such a world famous brand.

MG has been through some tough times over the last 40 years, and was not treated with the respect it deserved during the time of British Leyland, British Aerospace, BMW and the MG Rover Group ownership.

After MG Rover Group entered receivership in 2005, the assets were purchased by Nanjing Automobile Group, which merged with SAIC in December 2007. SAIC now operating a UK subsidiary – MG Motor. This resulted in the first all-new MG born in the UK for 16 years, the MG 6, which was officially launched on the 26th June 2011.

2012 saw the return of MG to motorsport, entering two MG 6 GT cars into the British Touring Car Championship. In 2014 MG won the BTCC Manufacturer/Constructor title, taking
first and second in the final round. The racing spirit continues in 2019, and the Excelr8 Motorsport Team have entered two MG 6 GT cars in the BTCC.

Closer to home, in 2017 MG Motor Australia signed James Brock to re-invigorate MG’s motoring heritage, running a 1.8-litre turbocharged MG 6 Plus (prepared at Brock Race Engineering, Victoria) in the 2018 season of the Production Car Championships, Class E. James Brock and co-driver Elliot Barber put the MG name on the podium, winning the Production E Class and proving that MG is well and truly back.

MG is not just associated with sports cars and motor racing, but has always produced many luxurious saloon cars. This tradition lives on with the vehicles produced by SAIC.

MG Motor Australia recognises the brand values of this famous marque and backs this up with excellent products and Australia’s best warranty and support.
